A city in India has implemented an original and inexpensive method to protect motorcyclists from the scorching sun and high temperatures.
Nagpur, in central India, is one of the country’s hottest cities, with temperatures reaching up to 48 degrees Celsius last year.

Therefore, the authorities, considering motorcyclists unprotected from the scorching sun, hung large green awnings above traffic lights. This allows motorcyclists to remain in the shade when stopped, preventing them from running red lights to avoid sunstroke and heatstroke.

India has recently been experiencing unusual heatwaves and droughts, with more than 160 people having lost their lives.
